Luke 1: 45: “And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”
Many times, women tell me that they never have had God speak to them. If we are born-again Christians, God is speaking. I guarantee it. There are a few simple things to consider when seeking His voice. One; do you read your Bible and try to learn about Him? You have to first recognize His voice to know He is speaking. When my husband called me, I knew his voice, because we had a close relationship. It works the same way with God.
Two; very few people hear Him speak in an audible voice. Mostly it’s an impression from within our own spirit. Or it’s in a verse of Scripture, or something the pastor says in the sermon, even in songs, and simple things like road signs. I know that sounds odd, but trust me, it’s happened to me. Lately, God has been speaking to me about something He wants me to do. I have read about that something in Scripture, received a gift from my daughter about this particular thing, and she didn’t know that I was struggling with it. Then out of the blue, a friend I haven’t seen in over 25 years, messaged me with a word of encouragement about the very same thing. Wouldn’t you say I’m hearing from God? The problem is not in hearing from God in my case, it’s acting on the situation. Yes, that is disobedience. And believe me, I am moving in the right direction now, which brings me to the next point.
Three; when we hear, we should trust Him that there will be a fulfillment of what He is speaking to us. In my situation it isn’t my lack of trust in God, that’s holding me back, but it’s my own fear of failure. Yes, even seasoned Christians and pastors have fears and often avoid the issue through procrastination. But I assure you, I will not stay in this status-quo, because it will get me nowhere.
Our verse says “Blessed is she who believed there would be fulfillment of what was spoken to her.” I want to be blessed, don’t you?
There are those of you who are reading this who, like me, know God is telling you something, but you want to avoid it. If we let that initial fear control us, it turns to sin. So, let’s get up and get going on what we know. And, He will not show us the complete picture, He wants us to walk the path of trust.
Isaiah 32: 9: Rise Up, you women who are at ease, hear my voice, you complacent daughters, give ear to my speech…
In this portion of Scripture it’s talking about the desolation that will come upon the land of Judea because of complacency. Aren’t we living that right now? God is telling His daughters today, to rise up and fulfill our assignment because our voice needs to be heard. He wants to have us speak to those around us to try to help them be ready for what is to come. We must take His mandates seriously. He is speaking to us, but we have to listen for His voice, and then obey.
There are cruel, vulgar and loud voices out there, shouting and demanding their rights for their heart’s desires. For example, abortion. Do we speak boldly for the rights of the unborn? This is just an example. Our kids are being taught things they shouldn’t even know about at their tender young ages. Are we pushing back on that? Or, are we afraid to speak out against what is loud and raging? We speak for the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. We need not fear, for He has already told us we will be blessed when we move out in what He has told us. Rise up! Until next time!
