Woman of the Most High God: Why do we celebrate the 4th of July?,

First of all, we celebrate Flag Day. Why? Because of those men and women who have fought for their country. Those who gave their lives so we can be free. people today burn the flag not realizing what this flag means to us and the 4th of July we proclaim as Independence Day. We have picnics, watch fireworks, spend time with our families. The Bible tells us that whom the son sets free is free indeed.

We are free today because of Jesus dying for us on the cross and because men and women gave their lives so we could enjoy the freedom we live in today. We can do as we please, go where we want, live where we want to live, work where we want to, but we take advantage of our freedom and don’t appreciate it many times.

Other countries would love to live like we are allowed to live. Look at people at the border trying to get over here. We can go to church wherever we choose. We shouldn’t just think of the 4th of July for parties and fireworks. we need to remember why we celebrate this day.

Freedom isn’t free, it comes with the price. Usually the shedding of blood. Take time on Flag Day and the 4th of July to give thanks to God and those men and women who gave their lives so we can be free.

Tell your children and grandchildren while we celebrate these days and say a prayer for those who are fighting for us today. Thank God for the red, white and blue. Thank God we live in America. We have food and clothing. We have doctors to go see when we need to. Other countries don’t. We need to be thankful for what we have.

God Bless America and thank God we live in a free country.

Yours in Christ Jesus,

Rev. Teresa Reid
