Nursing home outbreak increases to 27 with Taylor County’s 61st through 81st confirmed cases of COVID-19

Brings county COVID count to 33 active, 47 recovered, & 1 death

TAYLOR COUNTY--With an ongoing outbreak at a local nursing home, Taylor County COVID numbers jump drastically.

Doctor David Bender, County Health Officer today, Saturday, August 15, announced that the Grafton-Taylor County Health Department has confirmed Taylor County’s 61st through 81st positive cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) involving Taylor County residents.

The patients, who vary in age, are currently in isolation at Rosewood Nursing Home and their homes (for the staff that tested positive). This brings that outbreak count to a total of 27, six staff and twenty-one residents.

Epidemiological investigation to include contact tracing is currently underway.

The West Virginia National Guard has been alerted for completing facility decontamination. Grafton-Taylor County Health Department will be working closely with Rosewood Genesis, overseeing their mitigation plan, which includes the creation of a separate “Covid-19” wing at the facility for resident(s) isolation.

This brings Taylor County to a total of thirty-three (33) active Covid-19 cases.
