Grafton High Volleyball plays final regular season games

BUCKHANNON – The Grafton High School volleyball team traveled to Buckhannon last week to face Buckhannon-Upshur and Brooke in a Tri-match.

The first opponent for the varsity Lady Cats was Brooke. The Cats gave it their all but fell to the Bruins 13-25 and 15-25. In the second contest the girls lost to Buckhannon 13-25 and 8-25.

The JV team did not fare any better as they lost to Brooke 9-25 and 15-25 then lost to Buckhannon 13-25 and 20-25.

The Bearcats returned home on Thursday night to host Notre Dame in their final regular season match of the season. The girls played one of their better games of the season but in the end fell to the Irish 18-25, 11-25 and 18-25.

Brianna Farnsworth recorded one ace and one kill for the Lady Cats while Hailey Skiles added one kill. Hannah Taylor had a big night as she had eight kills followed by Morgan Harrison with one ace and four kills. Rounding out the highlights for the Cats was Rachel Rock with seven assists and Shannon Linton with two assists and one ace.

The JV team also lost to the Irish 25-28 and 12-25.

The girls will be back in action tonight as the begin sectional play at Philip Barbour High School.
