Rita Jean Robinson, age 91, formerly of Grafton, passed away August 18, 2014 at Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg, Maryland.
Rita Jean was born on December 5, 1922 in Grafton, West Virginia to the late George E. and Mary E (Kernan) Sorge. She was also preceded in death by husband, Walter L. Robinson; sisters, Betty Lou Shields and Helen Quinn, and brother, Harold E. Sorge. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Rita Jean spent over 90 years in Grafton before moving to Frostburg to be closer to family. She graduated from St. Augustineís parochial school in 1940 and from Clarksburg Business School in 1942. Rita Jean and Walter owned and operated Robinsonís Cleaners in Grafton, for over 25 years. She was previously employed by the Prunytown Industrial School and the B&O Railroad. She was a member of St. Augustineís Catholic Church and belonged to the B &O Auxiliary. Rita Jean was a devote Catholic and loved to follow Notre Dame and WVU football.
Surviving are nieces Judy Schell and husband Chris, Finzel, MD, Kathy Moats and husband Wes, Grafton, WV; nephews David Shields and wife Dorothy, Ridgeley, WV, Edward Shields and wife Linda, Proctorville, OH, Leon Sorge and wife Frances, Germantown, MD. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
