Thelma Lee (Smith) Brown McCauley, age 83, of Grafton, WV passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the Regional Hospice Inpatient Center in Elkins following a battle with complications of Alzheimer’s disease, surrounded by her family.
She was born July 28, 1931 in Aurora, WV a daughter of the late George Smith and Ola M. (Snyder) Smith Brown.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Junior B. McCauley; two children, George E. Brown and wife Constance of Elkins, and Judith A. McCarty and husband, Rick of Warren, OH; one son-in-law, Thomas N. Greathouse of Flemington; five grandchildren, Thomas R. Greathouse of Flemington, Vicki M. Greathouse of Flemington, Timothy L. Brown of San Antonio, TX, Catherine M. Chua of Elkins, and Andrew R. McCarty of Warren, OH; five great grandchildren; five brothers; and also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Marie Greathouse, one sister and two brothers.
Thelma was a beloved wife and mother, a faithful child of God, and was an active member of her church, the New Testament Fellowship of Grafton. She met Junior, then they got married and moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1959. After 3 months, they moved to Ohio where they stayed until they moved back to Grafton in September 1993. Thelma enjoyed her family, traveling with her husband, Junior, gardening, and taking care of her flowers.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Tuesday, August 19th from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James A. Johnson officiating.
Interment will follow at the Flemington I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
