Parent involvement and GHS’ mission

GRAFTON- Grafton High School art students had some amazing artwork on display in the Mary Battle Studio room during the Taylor County Board of Education meeting Tuesday. Shown on the left easel is a “weave drawing” of Paul McCartney, using pencil and colored pencil by, Grafton High School senior Ebie Titchnell. One the second easel, to the left, is a “portrait drawing” of Max Irons by, senior Sarina Poling. Shown to the far right is also a “weave drawing” titled, “Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing,” in pencil by, junior Lauren Lyons.

GRAFTON- “I was dumbfounded when the first week I was here (2010), 15 kids dropped out,” shared Grafton High School (GHS) Principal Dr. Joseph Findley. “In 30 years, most of the schools I have worked in, I have seen probably one or two dropouts …this was all foreign to me, because in the first year here, there were 40 drop outs total,” added Findley.

Dr. Findley along with several speakers appeared before the board at a Taylor County Board of Education (BOE) meeting held in the Mary battle Studio room at GHS Tuesday evening.
