Charles Franklin Murray, 73 of Scotch Hill Community, Newburg, passed away Tuesday, July 09, 2013 with family by his side.
He was born June 5, 1940 in Marquess, son of the late Freeman Charles Sr. and Gertrude Ruth Swiger Murray and step-mother Anna Mae Funk Murray.
Charles graduated from Fellowsville High School. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and the outdoors. Charles was a member of the Bethel Church, Newburg Senior Center, and he was a charter member of the Fellowsville Fire Department and Mountaineer Ambulance Service. Charles worked for over 32 years as a coal miner for Kit Energy in Philippi and DeCondor in Masontown.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Yvonne H. Bolyard Murray; four children, Sherri L Meffe and Robert, Fairmont, Rhonda L Farrell and Kenny, Scotch Hill, Lisa D. Bolyard and Bobby, Scotch Hill and Jamey A Murray and Amber, Elizabeth; nine grandchildren, Matthew McGinnis, Daren and Lenzy Meffe, Tyler, Zach and Kaitie Farrell, Emily and Joshua Bolyard, Sayer Murray; one great-grandson, Zakkary McGinnis. Also surviving are five brothers and sisters, Freeman Murray Jr. and Darlene, York Run Rd, Patty Poling and Bill, Marquess, Randy Murray and Debbie, Marquess, Teddy Murray, Thornton, Brenda Larew and Jim, Thornton; two sister-in-laws, Beverly Murray, Grafton and Ethel Mae Murray, Tunnelton; several nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Murray and Robert “Bob” Murray, one sister, Debbie Shipp.
Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m., and Friday, July 12, 2013 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. with Pastor John Casto officiating.
