Working on the rail road

GRAFTON Ė beyond the great Tygart Dam, Memorial Day or Motherís Day, no other outside force mightier than the B&O Railroad helped to forge Graftonís history. Thomas Dixon, Jr., owner of TLC Publishing recently honored local historian and research specialist Dave Shingleton by offering him the opportunity of a lifetime.

Shingleton was invited by Dixon to write a book on the history of the B&O Rail Road in Grafton, to which Dixon will publish.

Shingleton informed the Mountain Statesman that he has already established a tremendous archive of material. One of Shingletonís relatives, George Shingleton, is a retired Chief Dispatcher of the B&O Rail Road from the 1970s. This relativeís research has been passed on to Dave to help in his writing.
