Noble band spared in tornado’s path

Posted: Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013

NOBLE, Okla. – During a phone call early Tuesday morning, Fred Queen, director of the Noble High School “True Blue” Band, notified the Mountain Statesman that he and all of his band members were spared from the devastation unleashed by resent tornados in their area. Queen’s band is scheduled to perform Sunday afternoon during the Spirit of Grafton Celebration, and march in Monday’s Memorial Day parade.

Queen, who lives just three miles east of the school, noted that his home was also spared, as one of the tornados remained in the air, never touching down at his residence.

Queen explained that many of those that lived in Moore had traveled south to Noble to take shelter during recovery efforts.
