Posted: Monday, May 13th, 2013

GRAFTON’S JAMES HADDIX catches a fly ball in center field during the third inning of last Tuesday’s sectional baseball play-off game in Philippi.

GRAFTON -- The Grafton High School Bearcats lost twice to the Philip Barbour Colts last week, and therefore they were knocked out of the double-elimination Class AA Region II Section Three Baseball Play-Offs.

This time, the Bearcats squandered a solid pitching performance by junior southpaw Chuck McCloy, as the final score was: Philip Barbour 4; Grafton 3.

Chris Smith, the starter and eventually the losing pitcher, and Peters toed the mound for the Bearcats, while Tyler Schiefelbein, the starter and eventually the winning pitcher, and Smith, Philip Barbour’s closer, worked on the mound for the Colts.
