Sheriff gunned down

A black memorial band has been placed on the badges of Grafton city police officers as a symbolic gesture for the fallen Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum.


GRAFTON- Grafton City Police Officers have placed a black memorial band on their badges as a symbolic gesture for a fallen officer, Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum, 59.

The Sheriff had a reputation for combating the drug problem in southern West Virginia, especially in Mingo County.

A candlelight vigil was held in memory of Sheriff Crum on the courthouse steps Thursday evening. Officials say Crum died doing what he loved and his legacy will not soon be forgotten.
