9-1-1 street addresses released

Posted: Wednesday, Mar 13th, 2013

Greg Skidmore from the Harrison/Taylor County Office of Emergency Management informed the Taylor County Commission last Tuesday evening that much of Taylor County is ready to begin switching to the 9-1-1 street addresses. Skidmore reported that five of the eight county zip codes are ready for release. Residences receiving their mail through the Philippi, Fairmont, Thornton, Flemington, Newburg or the Independence Post Offices will be getting a letter from the US Postal Services in the next couple days informing them of their new address.

Skidmore further noted that those receiving their mail through the Grafton Post Office are just a week or so away from receiving their letters. As for those who get their mail through the Bridgeport or Shinnston Post Offices, Skidmore explained that he has made a special request to those approving Harrison County changes that they complete Bridgeport and Shinnston first, so as to finish Taylor County as soon as possible. “We want to see Taylor County 100% complete,” explained Skidmore.
