28 scheduled for arraignment in Taylor County Monday

Modified: Wednesday, Feb 6th, 2013

Catherine Suzanne McEldowney and Aaron Clay McEldowney appeared together Monday to face charges for three counts of felony child neglect.

Judge Moats began by entering a not guilty plea for both of them and proceeded to release them on their $3,000 bond set in magistrate court, when Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Shawn Nines objected.

Nines explained to the court that Mr. McEldowney had only appeared once to be drug tested during his release, while his wife, Mrs. McEldowney, never appeared.

“This lack of commitment causes concern,” explained Nines.

Jim Shackelford, their bondsman, further withdrew their bond, noting their noncompliance to bond conditions as the reason for his decision.

Although the couple claimed to be in treatment programs, both failed their drug tests, and they were remitted to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.

“When I get answers, I will consider releasing them to the community corrections program,” explained Judge Moats. He further noted, “Mrs. McEldowney, the games are going to stop.”
