Martha Angeline (Harman) Bartlett


Martha Angeline (Harman) Bartlett, age 97, of Bridgeport, WV passed away Monday, January 7, 2013, at The Heritage.

She was born December 11, 1915, in Petersburg, WV, a daughter of the late Jason John and Stella Lenora (Simon) Harman.†

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul C. Bartlett, who passed away April 16, 1997. The couple had been married 62 years.†

She is survived by two children, David A. Bartlett and wife Delores of Lake Alfred, FL and Carolyn Burnett and husband Stan of Bridgeport; four grandchildren, Paul †Burnett and Julie of Orient, OH, †Patrick Burnett and wife Gretchen of Winter Garden, FL, Cynthia Mason and husband Skip of Grafton, and David Bartlett Jr. and wife Cindy of Squaw Valley, CA; three great-grandchildren, Joshua and Daniel Miller, and David Bradley; three great great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Eleanor Harman of Petersburg; and also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, Austin, and Vernon Harman; three sisters, Virginia Snyder, Eva Lowe, and Florence Folk; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Moore.

Martha was a member of the Blueville United Methodist Church; a 50 year member of the United Methodist Women where she served as president, secretary, and other offices; was a Sunday School teacher; †a 4-H Leaderí;† a lifetime member of the Taylor County Retired School Employees; and a member of the Naomi Chapter 12 Order of the Eastern Star.†

The†family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Sue Lowther officiating.

Interment will follow at the Woodsdale Memorial Park Cemetery.

Naomi Chapter 12 OES will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m.
