Arthur Raymond Weidlich, Sr.

Arthur Raymond Weidlich, Sr., age 80, of West Washington Street, Grafton, WV passed away January 2, 2013. 

He was born in Parkersburg, WV a son of the late John Edward Weidlich and Catherine (Minor) Weidlich. 

He is survived by four children, Arthur Raymond  “A.R.”  Weidlich, Jr. and wife Jennifer Lynn Weidlich of Elkview, WV, Shannon P. Weidlich  and fiance’ Ronald Eugene Koontz of Grafton WV,  Anita Theressa  Whitehair of Fairmont WV and Leilani Lynn Love and husband Junior Love of Aurora, WV; eight grandchildren, Noah, Cody, Drake, Shakira, Rondo, John,  Mike, and Angel; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one brother, Robert Weidlich and one sister-in-law, Elma Mae Weidlich. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Theressa Victoria (Poling) Weidlich; three brothers,  John E. Weidlich, Bill Weidlich,  and Richard Weidlich;  and one sister, Mary Myers. 

Arthur served as a Gunner in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and the military police as a SSGT during Persian Gulf War.  He continued to serve as a SSGT in the Army Reserves while working in the signal department as a lineman for the CSX Railroad Company in Grafton until retirement.

He enjoyed spending time and volunteering at the Bread of Life Mission in Grafton where he will be fondly remembered, missed by many and loved by all.  He loved billiards and spending time in the outdoors fishing. Art enjoyed family and friends, always being helpful and considerate of others. Rest in peace Dad, we love you and will miss you always. 

The family received friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Monday. 

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. with Lay Minister James Arnold officiating.

Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown. 

Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Memorial City Post 3081, Taylor County Post 12 American Legion, D.A.V. Chapter 24 of Grafton, and the WV Army National Guard of Kingwood.
