GRAFTON -- Coach Rod Auvil took his Grafton High School Bearcats to the Friendly City on Thursday, December 20, for a triangular wrestling match with the home-standing Fairmont West Polar Bears and the South Harrison Hawks.
The Bearcats defeated the Hawks, 54-12, and lost to the Polar Bears, 66-13, to split their action. Also, Fairmont West blanked South Harrison, 84-0, in the rocking-chair match.
Grafton’s trio of Cody Goff, at 120 pounds, Tyler Moore, at 152 pounds, and heavyweight Ryan Helmick returned home from this competition with perfect 2-0 records, and this recent action left both Goff (now 5-0) and Moore (now 5-0) undefeated on the season.
Briar Hickman, at 138 pounds, reached a milestone, recording the 50th win of his Grafton High School career against South Harrison. He wound up 1-1 during this action at Fairmont.
The Bearcats are scheduled to return to the Friendly City this weekend to take part in the East Fairmont Duals Tournament on Friday, December 28, and Saturday, December 29.
