Frederick “Ted” Duryea, age 71 of Grafton, WV, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Grafton City Hospital.
He was born November 14, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Nicholas Arthur Duryea, and the late Alberta Amelia (McIntosh) Duryea.
Surviving is his loving wife of 15 years, E. Jeanene (Armstrong) Duryea; one son; Brian T. Duryea and wife Christine Duryea of Westbrookville, NY, and daughter Rebecca C. Zwart and husband Matthew Zwart of Montgomery, NY; two sisters, Lorie Horrevoets of Bloomingburg, NY, and Lee Montgomery and husband David Montgomery of Grayling, MI; one brother, David Duryea and wife Shirley Duryea; four stepchildren, Erin Gulliksen, Sonya Palumbo and her husband John, John T. Gulliksen III, and Eric Gulliksen and his wife Klaire; four grandchildren, Dakota and Dale Duryea, and Amber and Dylan Zwart; ten step grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
“Ted” was a proud Army veteran who was stationed in Berlin, Germany. He was an avid train enthusiast, who also collected nautical memorabilia and musical clocks. He was very proud of his Native American Heritage. During the summer months you could find him outside, working in his garden. A very family oriented man; he loved The Lord, and also had a beautiful tenor singing voice.
He was a Tank Inspector for IBM in Fishkill, NY, and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and on Friday, Nov 30, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Richard McDonald officiating. Military graveside services will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
