Paul James “Jamie” Banks, age 46, of Ashland, KY, formerly of the Flemington Community, passed away, Monday, November 19, 2012, at University of Kentucky Hospital, following an extended illness. He was born in Clarksburg, WV, June 1, 1966, a son of the late Charles H. Banks, and Virginia Lou (Merritt) Smith, and James R. Smith, who survive, of Ashland, KY. His fiancée’ and love of 8 years, Patricia Hoke, survives, of Ashland, KY.
Mr. Banks attended Taylor County Schools, and was an avid Coca-Cola collector. He also enjoyed collecting eagles and Indians, and loved country music. He was a Pentecostal and had attended the Flemington Church of God.
In addition to his mother and step father he is survived by: two sisters, Sharon Banks and Elizabeth Banks, of Canton, OH; two brothers, Homer Banks and wife Lucille, of Niles, OH, and Darrell Banks, of OH; his maternal grandmother, Charlotte Merritt, of Simpson, WV; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephew, and cousins; and his dog Cuddles, whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by: his maternal grandfather, Everette Merritt; paternal grandparents, Thomas Banks and Esther Campbell; two nephews James McAtee and Travis Swick.
Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202, McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Friday, from 3-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Dave Harris assisted by Carl Bartlett. Interment will be at the IOOF Cemetery, Rosemont, WV.
