of 164 to lead the Grafton Bearcats to a sixth-place finish in the Class AA Division of the West Virginia High School Golf Tournament, which was held on the Speidel Golf Course at Oglebay Park in Wheeling on Tuesday, October 2, and Wednesday, October 3. |

GRAFTON -- The Grafton
High School Bearcats returned home Wednesday evening, after recording a sixth-place finish in the Class AA Division of the West Virginia High School Golf Tournament, which was a two day,36-hole event held on the Speidel Golf Course at Oglebay Park in Wheeling.
On Tuesday, October 2, the quartet of Lucas Ware (82), Mitch Crutchfield (83), Zac Musgrove(89) and Zac Summers(93) played for the Bearcats, with Summers being the alternate.That gave Grafton a third-place team score of 254.
Then, on Wednesday, October 3, Crutchfield (81), Ware (91),Summers (96) and Musgrove (104) played the final 18 holes,with Musgrove becoming the
alternate. That gave the Bearcats a 268 performance.
So, the two-day scores for the Bearcats wound up looking like this: Crutchfield 164; Ware 173;Summers 189; and Musgrove 193. Then, when the team scores
were all added up, coach Mike Crutchfield’s Bearcats wound up with a sixth-place total of 522 strokes.
This was Grafton High School’s ninth consecutive appearance in the state tournament,as the Bearcats moved up one spot from last year’s seventh place finish.
