GRAFTON -- The Municipal Pool’s Grafton Gators opened their 2012 swimming season with four consecutive home meets that were held here in Fetterman Park.
They took place on Tuesday, June 12, Thursday, June 14, Tuesday, June 19, and Thursday, June 21...Also, the Gators were set to visit Shinnston last night, June 26, and then travel to Elkins tomorrow, June 28, for their first two road trips of the summer.
We want to offer special thanks to co-coaches, Bobbi Phillips and Abby Datewyler, for taking the time to report the results of those first four home meets to the Mountain Statesman.

On June 12, Grafton lost to FAST. However, the Gators managed to win several individual events on the evening. Our local victories included:
*Three event winner, Robbi Jacobs, in the under-eight age group, during the 25-meter backstroke, the 25-meter breaststroke and the 25-meter short freestyle races.
* Three event winner, Makenna Nose, in the 13-14-year-old age group, during the 50-meter butterfly, the 100-meter intermediate medley and the 50-meter breaststroke events.
*Two-event winner, Kortney Welch, in the 13-14-year-old age group, during the 100-meter long freestyle and the 50-meter backstroke races.
*Two-event winner, Alex Barnett, in the 13-14-year-old age group, during the 50-meter short freestyle and the 50-meter breaststroke competition.
*Shane Keener, in the 11-12-year-old age group, in the 50-meter backstroke event.
*Myles Kochka, in the 11-12-year-old age group, in the 50-meter short freestyle race.
*Lakin Nose, in the 13-14-year-old age group, in the 50-meter short freestyle competition.
*Plus, the two-time winning quartet of Kelon Phillips, Raymond Isner, Nancy Isner and Daniel Williams during the 200-meter-free relay and the 200-meter-medley relay races for the 15-to-18-year-olds.

On June 14, Grafton beat MUAC by the final score of 311-233. Winning some events to help lead the Gators to that victory were:
*A trio of under-six-year-olds, including Harrison Maier, in the 25-meter short freestyle race, and Treyson Nose, in the 25-meter breaststroke, as well as, three-event winner, Robbi Jacobs, in the 25-meter short freestyle, the 25-meter butterfly and the 25-meter breaststroke.
*A pair of two-event winners, including Meredith Maier, during the 25-meter short freestyle and the 25-meter back stroke, and Frederique Maloley, during the 25-meter butterfly and the 25-meter breaststroke, in the under-eight age group.
*Braeden Nose, in the 9-10-year-old age group, with his three wins coming in the 25-meter breaststroke, the 50-meter long freestyle and the 25-meter backstroke.
*Bria Jacobs, in the 9-10-year-old age group, with two wins during the 100-meter intermediate medley and the 25-meter breaststroke.
*Natalie Satterfield, in the 9-10-year-old age group, with two wins coming in the 50-meter-long freestyle and the 20-meter backstroke.
*A pair of two-event winners in the 11-12-year-old age group, including Shane Keener, during the 50-meter backstroke and the 50-meter breaststroke, along with Bronlie Jacobs, coming in the 50-meter breaststroke and the 100-meter intermediate medley.
*Plus the quartet of 11-12-year-olds, including Myles Kochka, during the boys’ 50-meter short freestyle event, McKenzie Setler, during the girls’ 50-meter short freestyle race, Kaycie Cochran, coming in the girls’ 50-meter butterfly competition, and Derek Heldreth, during the boys’ 100-meter intermediate medley race.
*The 13-14-year-old, 200-meter freestyle relay team consisting of Jadyn Phillips, Makenna Nose, Kortney Welch and Sydney Keener.
*The 13-14-year-old, 200-meter medley relay quartet made up of Payton Bish, Lakin Nose, Kortney Welch and Sydney Keener.
*And, the 15-18-year-old, 200-meter freestyle relay and 200-meter medley relay foursome of Daniel Williams, Kelon Phillips, Nancy Isner and Raymond Isner with its two wins.

On June 19, Grafton hosted teams from Quiet Dell and FFC in a triangular meet. The Lady Gators won half of the meet, but the Gators lost the other half, as FFC won the boys’ action. Several local swimmers recorded some victories. That group included:
*Robbi Jacobs, a three-event winner, in the six-and-under girls’ competition, during the 50-meter long freestyle, the 25-meter backstroke and the 25-meter breaststroke races.
*Treyson Nose with a pair of wins during the 25-meter breaststroke and 25-meter butterfly events in six-and-under boys’ races.
*Frederique Maloley coming in the eight-and-under, 50-meter long freestyle event.
*Bria Jacobs, a two-event winner, coming in the 100-meter intermediate medley and the 25-meter butterfly races in the 9-10-year-old bracket.
*Bronlie Jacobs, also a two-event winner, during the 50-meter breaststroke and the 50-meter butterfly races for 11-12-year-old girls.
*Hannah Louzy in the 11-12-year-old, 100-meter long freestyle event.
*Sydney Keener with three wins coming in the 50-meter short freestyle, the 100-meter long freestyle and the 100-meter intermediate medley events in the 13-14-year-old division.
*Kortney Welch with a pair of wins during the 50-meter butterfly and the 50-meter backstroke for 13-14-year-old girls.
*Makenna Nose in the 13-14-year-old, 50-meter breaststroke.
*The 100-meter freestyle relay quartet of Reagan Hulley, Natalie Satterfield, Bria Jacobs and Allie Bartlett in the 9-10-year-old competition.
*The 100-meter freestyle relay team of McKenzie Setler, Hannah Louzy, Kaycie Cochran and Bronlie Jacobs in the 11-12-year-old age group.
*The foursome of Kortney Welch, Lakin Nose, Makenna Nose and Sydney Keener during the 200-meter medley relay race for 13-14-year-olds.
*And, Payton Bish, Sydney Keener, Makenna Nose and Kortney Welch teaming up during the 200-meter freestyle relay race in the13-14-year-old division.

On June 21, the fourth consecutive home meet featured Grafton beating the swimmers from Lake Floyd, 276-201, with the following Gators winning their respective events:
*In the under-six division, Treyson Nose was a three-event winner, coming in the 25-meter short freestyle, the 25-meter butterfly and the 25-meter breaststroke for boys.
*Also winning three events during the boys’ competition was Braeden Nose in the 9-10-year-old, 25-meter backstroke, the 25-meter breaststroke and the 50-meter long freestyle races.
*Robbi Jacobs was a three-event winner in the girls’ under-six bracket during the 25-meter short freestyle, 25-meter backstroke and the 25-meter breaststroke races.
*Winning three events in the girls’ 9-10-year-old competition was Bria Jacobs, coming in the 25-meter butterfly, the 25-meter breaststroke and the 50-meter long freestyle.
*Reagan Hulley in the 25-meter short freestyle event for 9-10-year olds was victorious.
*Bronlie Jacobs was another three-event winner, coming in the 11-12-year-old girls’ 50-meter breaststroke, the 50-meter butterfly and the 50-meter backstroke.
*Hannah Louzy was a two-event-winner, coming in the 100-meter intermediate medley and the 100-meter long freestyle for 11-12-year-old girls.
*Alex Barnett tripled-up to win the 50-meter breaststroke, the 50-meter backstroke and the 50-meter short freestyle races for 13-14-year-old boys.
*Makenna Nose was a three-time winner, coming in the 100-meter intermediate medley, the 50-meter freestyle and the 50-meter breaststroke for 13-14-year-old girls.
*Kortney Welch was a two-time winner, coming in the 50-meter backstroke and the 50-meter butterfly during the 13-14-year-old girls’ competition.
*Kelon Phillips became a three-event winner during the 50-meter backstroke, the 100-meter long freestyle and the 50-meter short freestyle in the 15-18-year-old division.
*Raymond Isner’s win came in the 50-meter breaststroke for 15-18-year-old boys.
*Two 9-10-year-old relay teams finished first, including the foursome of Reagan Holley, Emilie Coole, Natalie Satterfield and Bria Jacobs in the 100-meter freestyle event, and the quartet of Reagan Holley, Natalie Satterfield. Bria Jacobs and Allie Bartlett in the 100-meter medley race.
*Three more relay teams came in first in the 11-12-year-old bracket, including the group of Shane Keener, Braeden Nose, Myles Kochka and Jacob Coole -- twice -- during the 200-meter freestyle race and the 200-meter medley competition, along with the quartet of McKenzie Setler, Hannah Louzy, Bronlie Jacobs and Kaycie Cochran in the girls’ 200-meter medley event.
*Two 13-14-year-old relay teams made their way to victory, including the foursome of Payton Bish, Sydney Keener, Makenna Nose and Kortney Welch during the 200-meter freestyle race, as well as, the squad of Sydney Keener, Makenna Nose, Lakin Nose and Kortney Welch coming in the 200-meter medley event.
*And, once again, the 15-18-year-old team of Daniel Williams, Kelon Phillips, Nancy Isner and Raymond Isner won two events, including the 200-meter freestyle competition and the 200-meter medley event.
