Heather Rae Dragoo

Heather Rae Dragoo, 37, of Fairmont, passed from this life Tuesday, (May 15, 2012) at Ruby Memorial Hospital, as the result of a fall and severe head injury.

She was born in Fairmont on July 22, 1974 a daughter of Gail Flanagan Dragoo of Fairmont and the late Richard Ward Dragoo. 

She was a homemaker and had formerly worked as an operator at American Fiber Resources. She was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a current member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. While going to school at St. Peters she enjoyed cheerleading and the Drama Club. She graduated from Fairmont Senior High School, class of 1992, then attended Fairmont State College. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and watching football. 

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Kameryn Ryeligh “Kamy” Smock and her father J.J. Smock of Fairmont; her companion, Marc Helmick; her brother, Aaron Dragoo of Shinnston; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tara and Adam Perine of Bridgeport and Courtney and David Donaldson of Shinnston; three aunts, Rose Ann “Rosie” Flanagan of Fairmont, Mary Agnes “Aggie” Allen and her husband Edgar of Fairmont and Gail Smail and her husband Ian of North Carolina; her uncle, Robert Flanagan and his wife Diane of Columbia, SC; seven cousins, Becky Simpson of NC, April Bravo and husband Rigo of TX, Andy Flanagan and wife Cindi of Fairmont, Melissa Posten and husband Robert of Fairmont, Schaine Brents of VA, Matthew Shepherd and wife Nicole of Fairmont and John Flanagan and wife Rebekah; her step-mother, Nina McGinnis and her husband Rodney of Shinnston.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Cara Dawn Dragoo; her maternal grandparents, Raymond E. “Pat” and Martha Flanagan; and her paternal grandparents, Richard F. and Mildred Dragoo. 

Friends called at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A) 320 Madison St., Fairmont, Thursday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., and may call Friday from 9 a.m.-9:30 a.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Friday at 9:30 a.m. with Deacon David Lester officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be sent to the family at FHFF320@AOL.COM.
