Alfred L. Poling, age 85, of Swindler Street, Grafton, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, February 9, 2014.†
He was born in Grafton, January 15, 1929, a son of the late Roy C. and Ruth (Fike) Poling. His wife, Margaret H. (Schoenmeyer) Poling, survives, they were united in marriage May 8, 1965.
Al was veteran having served in the US Army.† He was retired having worked as a yard master for Conrail Railroad.† He was a member of the Yard Masterís Association, and the Grafton Baptist Church.† He held church services at various nursing homes and the hospital in Taylor County for several years, his main goal was to be a soul winner.†
In addition to his wife he is survived by:† four children, Franklin Eugene Poling and wife Helene, of TN, Gregory Allan Poling and wife Jennifer, of Cleveland, OH, Lori Anne Poling, of Grafton, and Jeffrey Michael Poling and wife Maryjane, of Brunswick, OH; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by:† three children, Brian Eric Poling, Charles Leon Poling, and one child in infancy; two grandchildren; and one sister, Adrian Fast.
Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, from 4-8 PM.† Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Don Harward officiating.† Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery.
Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Memorial City Post #3081, American Legion Taylor County Post#12, Central WV DAV Chapter 24 and their auxiliaries, and the WV Army National Guard of Camp Dawson.
