Mary Ann (Mathews) Katsan, age 77, of Blue Avenue, Grafton, WV passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.
She was born May 25, 1935 in Burdette, NY, a daughter of the late Clyde H. and Ann M. (Messer) Mathews.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, George A. Katsan of Grafton; one daughter, Mimi E. Evans of Clarksburg and fiance’ John Kissel of Orange County, NY; five grandchildren, Nakoa D. Knotts and wife Laquanda, of Savannah, GA, Clinton J. Knotts of Flemington and fiance’ Lilly Bolyard, of Grafton; Shaela M. Knotts Duckworth and husband Jeremy of Clarksburg, Alex M. Katsan and wife Michelle of Fairbanks, Alaska and James D. Katsan of Fairmont, WV; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Emari Duckworth; one daughter-in-law, Donna Gillespie-Katsan of Grafton; one son-in-law, Clifton Knotts, of Flemington; and also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael D. Katsan; one daughter, Alexis Marie Knotts; and two brothers, Clyde and David Mathews.
Mary Ann enjoyed growing flowers in her nine flower beds, reading, making crafts, doll making, sewing for her family, crocheting, and knitting.
She was a former member of The White Shrine, the United States Garden Club of America and was a member of the St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church of Clarksburg.
Funeral services were held at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Jim O’Connor officiating.
Interment followed at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
