David Guy Knotts


David Guy Knotts, age 61 of Rt. 1, Grafton, (Knottsville Community) WV passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012 at his residence after a lengthy illness.

He was born July 3, 1951 in Philippi, WV the son of the late Elbert Guy Knotts and Dorothy Ellen (Williams) Knotts.

He is survived by one sister, Donna Kay (Knotts) Smoot and husband Robert Charles Smoot of Forest Hill, MD; five nieces and nephews, Rachel Elaine Davis of Tallahassee, FL, Sharon Ann (Davis) Allison and husband Kevin of Saltville, VA, Christopher James Smoot of Bel Air, MD, Alexander William Smoot of Forest Hill, MD, and Anna Jean Smoot of Shiso City, Japan; one great neice, Shirley Catherine Bradley of Tallahasee, FL;  many aunts, uncles, and cousins; also  his significant other, Lisa Marie Willett of Grafton and her children, Tristan Gauge Willett, and Victoria Lee Willett. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Joan Davis. 

He was a 1969 graduate of Grafton High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Fairmont State College. 

David retired from performing maintenance work at the Harrison Power Station.  Prior to that he worked at the Knotts Pallet Company (the family business) and the J&S Sheet Metal Company.  He enjoyed hunting, shooting, and fireworks.  He was a member of the former St. John’s United Methodist Church for many years and then transferred to the Knottsville United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Grafton Lodge 15 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Body of Clarksburg, Osiris Shriners of Wheeling. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Taylor County Shrine Club, where he was a Shriner clown.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Monday, July 30,  from 3:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Lowther officiating.

Interment will follow at the Knottsville Cemetery.

Masonic graveside services will be conducted by the Grafton Lodge 15 AF&AM
