Robert W. Jones, Sr.

Robert W. Jones, Sr., age 73, of Dewey Avenue, Grafton, WV passed away Monday, July 9, 2012 at his residence. 

He was born March 17, 1939 in Grafton, WV a son of the late Beryl George Jones and Loretta Marcella (Butcher) Jones.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Shirley Jo (Shorter) Jones; five children, Robert Wayman Jones, II and wife, Annie of Fairmont, Tammy Lou Dreyer of Grafton, Charles Robert Jones of Newport, NC, Beverly Jo Board and husband, Randy of Grafton, and Scott Allen Jones and wife Stacy of Morgantown; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, David A. Jones and wife, Barbara (Poe) Jones of Moorehead City, NC; and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

Robert was a retired postal carrier for the Grafton Post Office, an insurance agent for Combined Insurance Company, and former Mayor and former member of Grafton City Council.  He served in the US Air Force during the Viet Nam War and was a member of the VFW Memorial City Post 3081 of Grafton.  He was Protestant by faith. 

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.

Entombment will follow at the Woodsdale Memorial Park Cemetery in Grafton.

Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Memorial City Post 3081, Taylor County Post 12 American Legion, D.A.V. Chapter 24 and the WV Army National Guard of Kingwood.
