Thomas E. “Howdy” Howdyshell, age 71, of Rt. 3, Philippi, WV passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at his residence.
He was born December 14, 1940 at Pieffer Mountain in Tucker County, WV a son of the late Ernest Lee and Dakota Pearl (Williams) Howdyshell.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Phyllis Faye (Croston) Howdyshell; one daughter, Cynthia Elaine Howdyshell and companion Richard Marteny of Philippi; one sister, Dorotha Foster of Moses Lake, Washington; two brothers, Robert Howdyshell and wife Louise and Donald Howdyshell and wife Shari all of Grafton; also survived by several nieces and nephews, and his beloved granddog Bailey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Iva Austin and Shirley Barnhart.
Tom retired as a baler operator from St. Regis Box Shop, Tenneco, Georgia Pacific and last PCA (Packing Corporation of America in Grafton after 43 years of service.
Howdy was a member of the NRA and enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, and telling tales and jokes. He was Methodist by faith.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 3:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Lonnie Mayle officiating.
Interment will follow at the Clemtown Cemetery in Barbour County.
