John G. Thompson, Sr. age 63 of Laurel, Delaware went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2010 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born on June 24, 1946 in Grafton, West Virginia a son of the late Lyle and Vera Lee Thompson.

John was employed with Chrysler as a repairperson in Newark, Delaware.

He attended the Delmar Wesleyan Church. He loved watching NASCAR and sports, especially the Washington Redskins, Pittsburg Steelers and West Virginia University Football.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 45 years Caroletta Davis Thompson. His son, John Thompson, Jr. and wife Mariann of Delmar. A daughter, Caprice Hitch and husband Mark of Laurel. His brothers, Danny Thompson and wife Sherry of West Virginia and Keith Thompson and wife Georgianna of West Virginia. A sister-in-law Ramona Thompson of West Virginia. Grandchildren, Brittney, Michael, Courtney Thompson, and Kayla, Nicholas, Veronika Hitch. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

He is preceded in death by a brother Steven Thompson.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday February 24, 2010 at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home 700 West Street Laurel, DE 19956 at 2:00 p.m, where a viewing will also be held from 1-2:00 p.m. The Pastor Ken Deusa will officiate. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
