Shirley A. Lucas, age 73, of Route 3, Grafton, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born in Grafton, July 15, 1936, a daughter of the late Lowell Mason Bartlett and Ethel (Phillips) Bartlett who survives of Grafton.

In addition to her mother she is survived by her: husband of 55 years, Leonard Lucas, they were united in marriage May 18, 1954; three daughters, Brenda Wood and husband Dennis, of Grafton, Jo VanHorn and husband Steve, of Grafton, Meria Marstiller and husband Fred, of Morgantown; one son, Mike Lucas and wife Paula, of Independence, WV; ten grandchildren, Brandy Keener and husband Charlie, of Grafton, Chris Wood and wife Lorie, of Dover, IN, Shelly Shriver and husband Patrick, of Bridgeville, PA, Jimmie VanHorn and Krista Barcus, of Grafton, Justin Wood and Crystal Goodnow, of Grafton, Stacey Pace and husband Matthew, of Grafton, Heather Bartlett, and husband Donnie, of Morgantown, Delhi Lucas, of Morgantown, Carrie Marstiller and Todd Mills, of Morgantown, and Luke Lucas and Ashley Lambert, of Grafton; twelve great-grandchildren, Bryan and Chase Wood, Ashleigh, Danielle and Jesse Shriver, Sydney and Shane Keener, Isabella Bartlett, Braylie Marstiller, Bryce, Rowan, and Addison Pace; three brothers, Philip Bartlett, of Grafton, Charles Bartlett and wife Lana, of Parkersburg, Stanley Bartlett and wife Cathy, of Grafton; two sisters, Nena Benyon and husband William, of Naples, FL, Linda Boyles and Raymond, of Fairmont; four sisters in law, Sarah Jane Messenger, of Jolliet, IL, Alice Lucas, of Grafton, Rosemary Hardman and husband Dwight, of Oklahoma, and Betty Burgess and husband Vance, of Maryland; one very special friend, Lisa Frederick, of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by one great granddaughter, Morgan Shriver, and one brother, Lowell “Sonny” Bartlett.

Mrs. Lucas was the owner and operator of Shirley’s Catering for many years. She enjoyed preparing food and watching others enjoy her banquets. She also owned and operated Shirley’s Luncheonette in downtown Grafton for many years. Mrs. Lucas attended the First Baptist Church of Grafton.

Friends may call at the Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Wednesday from 4-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Grafton, on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Lucas will lie in repose at the church from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour. The Reverend Orville Wright officiating. Interment at Bluemont Cemetery.
