James Richard Stewart, Sr., 76, of Baptist Hill, Flemington, WV, died on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, Clarksburg, WV.

He was born April 14, 1933 in Flemington, WV, the son of the late Hollie Thomas and Blanche Marie Smith Stewart.

James was a Baptist by Faith and a High School Graduate. He was a veteran of the Navy and Air Force, serving in the Korean Conflict. James worked on ships in the military and at Sparrows Point, MD in his civilian life. He was a self-employed machinist and had also worked as a security guard in Ohio and AZ. James liked to play horseshoes in his spare time.

He is survived by two sons, James R. Stewart, Jr. and his wife Sunshine of AL and Danny Stewart, Baltimore, MD, one daughter, Trudie Lynn Bruss of NH and three sisters, Shirley Isabella of Flemington, WV and Barbara “Sue” Brown of Lumberport, WV and Ann Hancock of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Michael Olmstead and Crystal Stewart, two Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother Hollie Stewart, Jr..

Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 E Main St., Bridgeport, WV on Friday, November 27, 2009 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the WV National Cemetery, Pruntytown, WV with full military rites conducted. Online condolences may be made at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
