B. Clarence Lunsford, age 87 of Teter Creek Lake community in Barbour County, WV passed away Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Westmorland Rehab Center in Westmorland, TN.
He was born May 6, 1922 in Marshal Town, NC a son of the late Steve Lunsford and Nora Mae Wyatt of Madison County, N.C.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Gloria G. (Funk) Lunsford; one child, Leon Lunsford and wife, Diane of Gallatin, TN; four Step children, Donald Funk and wife, Carolyn of Fellowsville, WV, Robert Myers and wife, Christine, Randy Myers and wife, Mary, and Terry Shumaker and husband, Dennis all of Grafton; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one Sister, Vina Foster of Lawrenceburg, IN; one brother, Arnold Allison of Waynesville, N.C.; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two step-children, Cathy Kelly and Lonnie Myers; one granddaughter, Shelly Setler and one great-granddaughter, Daniele Brown; five sisters, Edna Plemmons, Eula Mae Wyatt, June Hannah, Emma Jean Sherer, Dorothy Pingle; five Brothers, Jerry Lunsford, Clifford Allison, Dewey Allison, Spencer Allison, and Bobby Allison.
Mr. Lunsford was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII in the European Theater. He worked in Baltimore, Maryland as a longshoreman for twenty-five years and was a member of the VFW in Belington. Over the years, Clarence enjoyed hunting, fishing, and digging ramps. He was Baptist by faith.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Thursday, October 29, from 4:00-9:00 p.m.
Graveside services will be held at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Evangelist Jeff Johnson officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the VFW Memorial City Post 3081, American Legion Taylor County Post 12, D.A.V. Chapter 24, and auxiliaries.
