Oleda DeMoss Kite, age 91 of Route 2 (Harmony Grove Community) Grafton, WV passed away at her home on Monday, October 19, 2009.

She was born in Thornton, WV July 8, 1918 a daughter of the late James O. DeMoss and Violet (Moon) DeMoss.

Surviving is one daughter, Melanie D. McDaniel of Grafton, WV; one son, Terry Kite and wife, Lois, of Richmond, VA; eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one daughter-in-law, Marrianne Kite of Jacksonville, FL; and one son-in-law, Don Powelson, of Ft. Ashby, WV; one brother, Forrest DeMoss and wife, Delores of Stow, OH; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul C. Kite, who passed away August 5, 1994; one son, Paul Richard “Dickie” Kite; one daughter, Sara “Sam” Elizabeth Powelson; one grandson, Michael Kurt McDaniel; and one son-in-law, Earl D. “Duke” McDaniel; two brothers, Edward DeMoss and Harry DeMoss; three sisters, Billy Jo Donnally, Mary Susan Shafferman, and Genevieve Robinson.

Oleda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister to her family. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Grafton.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Billy Crane and Reverend Jerry Monday officiating.

Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
