Freshmen Bearcats pick up two more victories

Posted: Wednesday, Feb 5th, 2014

COLTON YOUNG (shooting the ball) scored the game-winning basket with just 1.7 seconds left to play during a freshman boys’ basketball game that was held in Tennerton last Friday afternoon to give the Grafton Bearcats a victory over the home-standing Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers.

GRAFTON -- A total of three points proved to be the difference for the Grafton High School Freshmen Bearcats last week, as they picked up a pair of victories on the road and extended their current winning streak to six consecutive games.

The Bearcats, now 7-2 on the season, used a last second shot by Colton Young to knock off the home-standing Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers, 52-51, in Tennerton last Friday, January 31.

Then, the Grafton boys traveled to the Friendly City on Saturday, February 1, to face the East Fairmont Bees, a team that they had not beaten in several years. However, this time around, the Bearcats slipped past the Bees by a 50-48 margin.
