White Bass wash upon Pleasant Creek shoreline

Posted: Monday, May 13th, 2013

120 dead White Bass found on Pleasant Creek.

GRAFTON- “Over a thousand fish are dead,” stated a resident of Taylor County Tuesday afternoon. Of course, that was an exaggeration, to say the least. United States Army Corps of Engineers Tygart Lake Resource Manager Michael Estock recalls the event of that aquatic calamity, “Mountain Statesman Editor Bobby Jennings contacted us on May 7, and reported that a local resident had contacted the paper stating that there were a lot of dead fish on the Pleasant Creek shoreline.”

He announced, “Residents should never introduce foreign species into the lake or other waters.”

“If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there’d be a shortage of fishing poles.”  -Doug Larson
