Streetscape makes way for parking lot

Posted: Monday, Jan 14th, 2013

The VFW Post #3081 removed two condemned homes along Grafton’s Main Street last week. The post purchased the properties in order to construct a parking lot. The inset at upper right was taken looking down on the project from Washington Street.

GRAFTON – Main Street watched as two dilapidated structures were demolished Thursday. Both buildings belong to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Their demolition is an effort to make room for an expansion by the organization.

VFW Post #3081 Commander, Trenton Pauley noted Thursday morning that the buildings were being removed so that the post could eventually build a parking lot. For as long as the VFW has been located along Grafton’s Main Street, patrons have been forced to park along the roadway.
