GRAFTON – Shane Mumaw, Lieutenant for the Grafton Fire Department (GFD), was present at Anna Jarvis Elementary School with the Fire Safety House Tuesday.

The GFD purchased the Fire Safety House in 2000 with grants secured by the department. Mumaw reports that it has had anywhere from 800 to 1,200 students go through it a year.

Children touring the safety house normally range from pre-school through fourth grade, but Mumaw noted that there are occasions in which the Fire Safety House will travel to area day care centers for safety training.

Fire Safety Week began Oct. 7, and will continue through Oct. 13.
