Ruth A. Wilt

Ruth A. Wilt, age 78, of Ludlow, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at her home.

She was born on January 30, 1931 in Tunnelton, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Roy and Mabel Goff. She married Salem Junior Wilt on September 15, 1950. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1999.

She is survived by her son, Larry Wilt and his wife, Elaine, of Auburn, New York; a grandson, Gregory Wilt and his wife, Linda; a granddaughter, Kristi Vollmer and her husband, Rick; four great-granddaughters: Ashley Cornelius, Jordan Vollmer, Teresa Wilt, and Irelynn Vollmer, all of Auburn; as well as a sister-in-law, Erma Riley of Grafton, West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Kirk; and a brother, Gene Riley.

Ruth graduated from Tunnelton High School in 1948. She spent 30 years living in Florida, West Virginia, Texas, and Illinois at Chanute AFB and then North Dakota and then, back to Rantoul during her husband’s career in the Air Force.

Ruth worked for AAFES as a cashier at Chanute AFB. She was active in the Ludlow United Methodist Church. She loved traveling, camping and spending time with her family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Sam Samoes and Captain Holly Needham will officiate.

Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
