Carl E. Bolyard, age 80 of Route 1, Thornton, West Virginia passed away on Monday, March 23, 2009 at his residence. He was born on January 21, 1929 in Thornton, WV a son of the late Walter D. Bolyard and Winnie B. (Haddix) Bolyard.
Mr, Bolyard is survived by five children, April Moore and husband, Charles E. Moore, Jr., Dwight Bolyard and girlfriend, Sabrina Poling, Bonnie Bolyard and boyfriend, Tim Snyder, Jamie Bolyard and wife, Sherry Bolyard, and Omar Bolyard and girlfriend Tammy Poling, all of Thornton; seven grandchildren, Kanessa, Zack, and Carl Moore, Sarina Poling, Abby, Nathaniel, and Brook Bolyard; two sisters, Pinnia Edwards of Thornton and Julia Ann Zinn-Coplin of Oregon. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sons, Carl Bolyard, Jr.; two grandchildren, Brandon Levi Bolyard and Logan James Bolyard; two sisters, Ava June Ansel, and Nevie May Hershman; five brothers, Floyd, Hoza, Emmitt, Roy Bolyard and Charles William Bolyard, who died in infancy.
Mr. Bolyard served in the US Army for 13 years and taught welding at the Industrial School for Boys at Pruntytown. He was a member of the NRA, AARP, and formerly attended the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Carl enjoyed being with his family, hunting, and fishing.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. At Mr. Bolyard’s request he will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the family’s convenience.
